GOOGLE+ INTEGRATES NFC POSTS
The Android mobile version of the social network Google+ now enables people to use NFC technology to create their own posts. Users with NFC-enabled phones can post NFC-readable data and links as status updates without having to type anything in. This can include location-specific information and product details.

APP SHOWS AUDIENCE OPINION IN REAL TIME
The mobile application “Ovation” lets viewers use their mobile phones to share in real time which parts of a video they find good or bad. Viewers install the application and slide the on-screen bar upwards when they like a scene and down when they think it’s boring. This gives producers instant feedback and allows them to use all viewers’ feedback to find out how a show was generally received.

ORGANISATION SOFTWARE FOR SOCIAL MEDIA COMPANIES
“SocialBase” organisation software from oneforty Incorporation in Massachusetts is tailored to companies active in social media. Because the majority of these firms have to manage their presence in different networks at the same time, this tool is aimed towards supporting the organisation of their online activities. Every employee receives access to set new tasks or mark completed tasks. These are then displayed as a to-do list. Clicking on individual tasks immediately forwards users to the relevant network.

AUTOMATICALLY TAGGING PHOTOS
A group of students at Duke University and the University of South Carolina have developed a smartphone app that automatically tags photos with keywords. “TagSense” uses a variety of sensors to immediately analyse surroundings and characteristics in a photo. Apart from recognising faces and GPS data, the application also captures light, movement, weather and sounds, in order that it can tag photos with suitable keywords. It promises faster picture searches for people, atmospheres and moments.

ADVERTISING POSTER SHOWS FACEBOOK FANS IN REAL TIME
The Portuguese mobile phone operator TMN has launched an advertising poster in Lisbon and Porto that uses a built-in LED display to show the number of its Facebook fans in real time. TMN is using the campaign to share with the public its goal of reaching 750,000 fans, and clearly states this on the poster. To encourage as much fan activity as possible, TMN is simultaneously running competitions to give away iPhones, tablets and festival tickets.
