„A crisis is, when the old is dead and the new cannot be born“! With these words the Italian politician Antonio Gramsci described already in the 19th century, what we all are facing today: an economic crisis expresses itself at most in the inability to give birth to innovations and new ideas. That’s why we at TrendONE are always glad to show you new and exciting ideas, business models and tools are born, even during the current crisis. This month for example the mail-order business QUELLE – itself a victim of the downturn – shows how to involve the user into a new form of affiliate marketing. Moreover the Ötztal in Austria presents new and innovative opportunities to organize and finance your holidays in the region. In this spirit we are hoping to enthuse you to follow these examples and oppose what is called crisis today!

“Coupious” is a localised discount coupon system for smart-phones, and is currently being tested in West Lafayette, Indiana. The system is based on an application for iPhones and Android mobiles which localises the phone via GPS and displays the coupon offers available in the immediate surroundings. The cou-pons can then be downloaded and shown on the phone whenever you decide to make use of a particular discount. The advantage that this technique has over print is that all the offers are reg-istered in a central database, so that the individual dealers never get confused when processing them.
